we made it to Rinjani!
well, to start this writing i'm gonna share my very first time ever to finally summit Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in my home soil Lombok.
after living for 31 years, on 7 April 2026 i set foot on the top of the second highest mountain in Indonesia. it was not an easy yet a hard hike, lots of thoughts came through my head. lucky that the weather was so perfect, the perfect early April weather. and also thanks to the not so intense physical training that i had been through since December 2025, that it really worked.
the first day was a preparation day. we stayed in this humble homestay called Rudy's Trekking in Senaru. it is also a trekking organiser with lots of guests came to challenge Rinjani. one thing about Senaru, it was quiet and pretty chill. as a local myself, i still found it weird that the locals stared at us while walking around, as if they didn't get used to see tourists wandering around, let alone to the same locals. however, that's just a tiny part that needs an improvement in my opinion.
still on our first day, we managed to see Sendang Gile waterfall, a pretty natural spring water that streams from the forests beneath Rinjani. saw lots of monkeys jumping around and the place was good, apart from its cleanliness that still needs major concern from both locals and tourists.
to be continued....
